Love After Lockup is a reality television show where the fans can witness a love story that happens between two people. But the couples are not your ordinary, simple-living individuals. As it happens, these couples met through a prison dating site, which makes the other one a convict.
The show would then follow the love story outside that emerged while the other one is inside the prison. And the idea of the premise is simply the reason for its popularity and fame today.
While the show's publicity efforts are not as grandiose as the other shows would do for marketing, this young reality show has become truly a viral hit.
The pilot season of the show premiered back in January of 2018. Having only a total of seven episodes, the show surprisingly became a fan favorite as per Buzzfeed News. The pilot season showed promising receptions and ratings. And quite shockingly, the viewership numbers increased dramatically.
This is why it only made sense as to why WE TV renewed the show for a new season, and Sharp Entertainment produced a total of fourteen episodes.
Nearly a year after the first season finale, Love After Lockup Season 2 entered the network. And things have become more intense and interesting. The drama, thrill, and suspense grew extensively, which caused for more fans to become addicted to the show. So, just right before the second season concludes, WE TV decided to order more episodes from the production.
Back in January, it has been already revealed that Love After Lockup Season 2 will receive new ten more episodes once it returns this year. And so it did on June 14.
But instead of featuring new couples and new love stories, the returning season of the show will focus on five couples that have become the most watched and favored pairs according to Cheatsheet. These include Andrea and Lamar, Clint and Tracie, Marcelino and Brittany, Michael and Sarah, plus Meghan, and Scott and Lizzy.
Also, the premise of the newly added episodes is not the only thing that changed this season. As it appears, the title of the series is now seen as Life After Lockup.
Many reports suggest that Life After Lockup is a spinoff to the original Love After Lockup. But it seems that there are no official responses yet regarding the matter. Even so, the show remained strong in terms of ratings and numbers.
Love After Lockup Season 2 is now 15 episodes deep. And the next episode titled, Life After Lockup: Truth & Lies, is set to air on June 21, on WE TV.
