When Jamestown first entered Sky One in 2017, a lot of people were attracted to what the show is offering. This is why it immediately received a season renewal from the network.
Almost a year after, the second season premiered. But things have become more volatile for the show. As it appears, it looks like the show has been receiving a lot of critical receptions that time which are not good points for the show as per Digital Spy.
Even so, Jamestown still received an official renewal status. Hence, the third season.
This made the avid fans excited for what is to come to the town, along with the characters. But sadly, Sky One released a statement before it premieres that the third season will already serve as the last installment for the show.
Although this has become very unfortunate news, especially for the fans and the cast, many critics have contended that it only fits for the premise. This is because the plot appears to have a very limited scope in terms of its course.
Jamestown Season 3 kicked off last April of this year. And having only a total of eight episodes, the final season concluded immediately after two months. And on June 14, the final episode wrapped up.
According to Radio Times, the "last-ever episode" wrapped up with Mercy and Pepper's wedding. And this gave the town a satisfactory moment. But things spiraled out as Opechancanough war plans started.
As it appeared, Jamestown has changed forever. Thanks to Chacrow's warnings, the Sharrows fleed to the town considering the fact that almost all of the settlers on the riverside were killed.
With this kind of finale, it only made the fans more curious about what would happen next. This is why most of them are wondering if ever Jamestown will be receiving a renewal from Sky One.
While the fandom is now initiating campaigns for the show's return, it looks like that the network is firm with their decision. And the show is not to return for a new season. In spite of what other reports would say about Season 4, it seemingly appears that these are all fabricated news.
Unless the network officially renews the show, Jamestown is not returning, and fans would just need to settle for the ending that happened on the third season.
