Fans of British royalty have always been invested in the happiness of the members of the Royal Family. This is why they want to learn as much as they can about Prince William and Prince Harry, who grew up before the public eye.

Among the main points of interest with the lives of Prince Charles' sons are Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship with his second wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. A royal biographer recently shed light on the early years of Prince Charles' marriage to Camilla and the evolution of his sons' relationship with their stepmother.

According to royal biographer Penny Junor, the early days of the marriage could not be considered "happy families", especially since it comes at the heels of Princess Diana's tragic death. The biographer said that Prince William and Prince Harry  found it very difficult to adjust to Camilla in the role of their father's wife, reported Express.

Junor said that Prince William and Prince Harry found it awkward to interact with the Duchess of Cornwall at first because they wanted their mother. The princes were also afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing, given their young age.

It was a difficult period for everybody because at the time, the royal household believed that Prince William and Prince Harry were the keys to securing the public's acceptance of Camilla as a part of the royal family.

The royal biographer said that in fairness to Duchess Camilla, she did not try to replace Princess Diana in the hearts of her children. However, her history with Prince Charles hindered immediate peace between her children and the young princes.

Based on a separate account of royal author Katie Nicholl, Prince William and Camilla's daughter Laura Parker-Bowles ranted at each other and blamed each other's parents for the ruin of their families.

According to Nicholl, Prince William would blame Camilla for hurting their mother, and this would trigger a reaction from her daughter and instigate a counter attack. Laura and her brother Tom have reportedly suffered through bullying their entire young life because of their mother's connection to Prince Charles, and they also felt resentment against the Prince for the collapse of their family.

Nicholl said that as the children grew older and as their families united, the relationship of the two families became warmer with acceptance and peace. Prince William and Prince Harry grew to accept the role that Camilla played in their father's life and the children also stopped blaming each other and started to get along well.
