The Crown Season 3 is about to feature a major time jump, and there will be a new set of cast members to portray the roles of much-matured royals. There will be new faces and characters that fans are about to see, along with the familiar roles that will continue the historical drama.
Erin Doherty joins the new season to play the role of Princess Anne and Emerald Fennell as Camilla Parker-Bowles. The show also enlists Olivia Colman to continue portraying as Queen Elizabeth II after Claire Foy, along with Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip.
According to Express.co.uk, The Crown Season 3 is about to begin a new era. Doherty believes fans will continuously support the show as it will still be on point despite the new set of stars.
She also said it would be spectacular, "knocking it out of the park." "To be a part of The Crown feels both ridiculously special and surreal," she said. "There is such a rare dynamic within Princess Anne that I am incredibly grateful to be able to explore."
Radio Times reported The Crown Season 3 and 4 would explore the years of 1964-76. Although showrunner Peter Morgan remains mum about the new season's storyline, the history reveals it will be about the development of Queen Elizabeth and Harold Wilson's (Jason Watkins) relationship.
Menzies, on the other hand, revealed the new season would have an episode about the Apollo 11 moon landing, and Prince Philip's reaction to it. Morgan reportedly included this side of the story because the prince got absorbed by the heroism of Neil Armstrong and the pilot Buzz Aldrin. He allegedly compared what they did to what he hadn't done with his life.
The Crown Season 3 will also cover the decolonization of Africa and the Caribbean and the birth of Prince Edward in March 1964. It will even follow Prince Charles' (Josh O'Connor) movement in public after his coronation as the Prince of Wales in 1969. Connor revealed Prince Charles would be introduced as a young student.
Netflix has yet to announce when the new season will hit the small screens, but it will be surely out later this year. There are assumptions that it will be out sometime in the autumn before Christmas, which Doherty even confirmed.
So in no time, fans are about to meet the new faces The Crown Season 3 is about to introduce. The award-winning royal biopic has been renewed for Season 4.
