Kate Middleton has found herself in the spotlight ever since she had been linked with Prince William in 2001. Many fans of the royal family immediately rooted for their relationship, and Kate's inclusion to the royal family eventually became the stuff of fairy tales.
It comes as no surprise that Kate Middleton's relationship with other members of the royal family has also become a point of interest among the public, especially her interactions with her brother in law, Prince Harry's ex-girlfriends. This is because of the closeness of the younger prince to her husband, Prince William.
It was recently revealed by royal author Katie Nicholl that Kate did not always get along with Prince Harry's exes, in particular, Chelsy Davy, whom he had dated on and off from 2004-2010. Nicholl, who wrote the book Kate: The Future Queen, revealed that the relationship between the two women was lukewarm at best, even though they dated Prince William and Prince Harry at almost the same time, Express reported.
In her book, Nicholl said that it was not the lack of effort that kept the women apart, but it was because they had completely different personalities that Kate and Chelsy never quite clicked. Nicholl recounted an incident where Kate, to befriend Chelsy invited her out to go clothes shipping but the Zimbabwean heiress and businesswoman refused.
It was also revealed that Chelsy Davy got along better with Kate Middleton's sister Pippa. However, the lukewarm relationship eventually developed into a warmer one when both women bonded over their shared experience of meeting the Queen for the first time.
According to Nicholl, it was the wedding of Prince Anne's son Peter to Autumn Kelly, and Kate Middleton was attending in behalf of herself and Prince William. She was very nervous because of her boyfriend's absence and the fact that she was going to be officially introduced to the Queen for the first time. She was reportedly happy to know that Prince Harry and Chelsy were attending as well.
Nicholl wrote that Chelsy, who was also going to meet the Queen officially on the same day, was equally nervous and this led the two women to develop a bond.
"On this occasion, however, they bonded, because they were both nervous about meeting the Queen," Nicholl said about Kate and Chelsy's experience.
It can be recalled that Prince Harry started dating Chelsy Davy in 2004, roughly a year after Prince William's relationship with Kate became public. Chelsy Davy broke up with Prince Harry in 2010, while Kate Middleton married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
