Is Designated Survivor season 4 renewed on Netflix? There are strong indications that the show will be given another round and an announcement might come from Netflix sometime this July.

According to What's On Netflixthere are more good reasons for the streaming platform to renew Designated Survivor season 4. For one thing, the show's third season remains consistently in the Top 10 of the most popular shows list on IMDb. It's also popping up on the top shows list of other measuring data, while its social media accounts and fanbase are active and going strong as well.

Designated Survivor cast member Benjamin Charles Watson (as Dontae Evans) revealed in an interview with Digital Spy that they are optimistic of a season 4 renewal. Netflix in the U.K. itself confirmed that Designated Survivor season 3 was the fourth most-watched show in the region's platform when the series launched last June.

"I feel like we will get one," Watson said. "I know Netflix UK posts their numbers for shows, and I think our show's doing really well in the UK from what I've been seeing. We don't know about how it's been doing in the US, but I feel like we will get a season 4."

Designated Survivor was canceled on ABC at the end of the second season in 2018, and Netflix saved the show but gave it a shorter 10-episode third season run. The latest installment has been praised by the likes of famous author Stephen King who observed that Designated Survivor season 3 had a better story development as Netflix didn't stifle its production.

Designated Survivor season 3 tackled real-life situations about drug addiction, the cost of medicines and health care, children and marriage, and the political landscape in the world. It also made use of a new storytelling strategy that featured interviews from real people similar to documentaries.

The new approach gave the show new life and ignited more interest from the viewers who were thought to have tuned out last season. However, Designated Survivor season 3 killed off one of the original cast members. Maggie Q's character, Hannah Wells, succumb to poisonous gas in the seventh episode.

The actress confirmed her character's exit in a post on Instagram by thanking the fans and the show's creator David Guggenheim. Fans of the Designated Survivor were naturally upset that Hannah would not be in the fourth season, should it get a renewal.
