WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Dark season 2. Read at your own risk.
Dark is the first German-language series released on Netflix, debuted in December 2017. Now, the second season was recently released, but many were excited what will happen on Dark season 3. Here's everything we know so far.
Co-created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, Dark is a time-traveling series that focuses on the battle of evil and good, the fate of the universe, the nature of free will - all of which are themes manifest in the human relationships. The series became an instant hit, and it was even dubbed as the European version of Stranger Things - wherein a child disappeared in an eerie, suburban town, and was set in the 1980s.
The second season arrived on June 21, 2019, and it was bigger than before with more mysteries that are yet to unfold. Many were initially wondering if there will be Dark season 3, but bo Odar shared on his Instagram account in May 2019 that the series has been renewed for a third season, adding that it would be the final installment.

While this might be bad news for fans, the time cycles on the show only come in three, so it only makes sense the third season would be the final one. Right now, the release date of Dark season 3 remains unknown, but it will likely return in 2020. IndieWire reported that filming is underway. Thus, the third installment would probably be released in summer or spring 2020.
It's also worth noting season 2 premiered on June 21, which is the day Michael killed himself in the series. This launches the chain of events that happened in the first season, and with that in mind, Netflix could intentionally release the final run on June 27, 2020, which is the day of the last cycle and the apocalypse.
Meanwhile, the cast of Dark season 3 remains unpredicted as well since it's hard to guess who's coming back and who's not. But, some characters expected to return includes Jonas (played by Louis Hofmann) and older Jonas (Andreas Pietschmann).
Moreover, adult Noah (Mark Waschke), Charlotte (Karoline Eichhorn), Hannah (Maja Schone), teenage Bartosz (Paul Lux), Franziska (Gina Stiebitz), Magnus (Moritz Jahn), and Martha (Lisa Vicari) are all expected to come back as well.
Also, Elisabeth (Carlotta von Falkenhayn) survived the apocalypse, so it's safe to say she's coming back, along with her mother Claudia (Lisa Kreuzer), father Peter (Stephan Kampwirth), young Noah (Max Schimmelpfennig), and Regina (Deborah Kaufmann. It can be recalled that all of them were together in a bunker at the end of the second season.
