T.O.P was officially discharged on July 6, Saturday. Fans, critics, and the media had been anticipating for his release for quite a while now.

While many are truly happy for the BIGBANG star’s return, others were not too pleased for his early discharge. With that said, T.O.P made sure that he’s just going to celebrate the completion of his mandatory military service with people who care about him — his fans.

So instead of going out in front door of the establishment where he served his compulsory duty, like all other Korean celebrities did before him, to meet the fans and the press, T.O.P skipped this part and went to a secret fan meeting. So all the press saw on July 6 was a green tape where he was supposed to stand, and a mic just in case he wanted to say anything or answer questions from reporters. However, he chose to spend his time with his fans.

This is the first time in history that a celebrity didn’t face reporters after discharge. In short, T.O.P made history.

The 31-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor then returned to social media, not to show off his new art collection or to share an upcoming project, but to thank the fans. It is pretty clear that T.O.P is still very remorseful for his marijuana scandal, which is evident in his caption.

“Even though I am not proud of myself, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time and efforts to share this moment with me,” T.O.P wrote. “I will make sure to reflect on my self and repay the hurts and disappointments I caused to you. Again, thank you. Until I see you again.. love, T.O.P.”

T.O.P had the choice to face the press and release a statement, but he clearly didn’t want this negativity. So instead of wasting his time and energy explaining and apologizing to people who want nothing but to see him suffer and pull him down, he chose to spend it with people that made him feel welcome, accepted, and forgiven.

T.O.P may have made a mistake before, but he seems very genuinely remorseful. He may have not fully forgiven himself yet, but VIPs have forgiven him a long time ago.

Welcome back, T.O.P! One king out, three more to go.
