SEAL Team season 3 is coming back on CBS this fall with lead star David Boreanaz. It has a confirmed return date for Wednesday, Oct. 2.
CBS released the return dates of its fall season shows in early June. Curiously, SEAL Team season 3 regained its original time slot at 9:00 p.m. when it has been airing at 10:00 p.m. last season.
The show will also be paired with the cop series SWAT, which will come on at 10:00 p.m. This time shift is great news for SEAL Team season 3 especially after a shaky second season in the ratings.
This time, it's more fitting for the show to be paired off with a police drama than two hours of comedies. Thus, there's a good chance SEAL Team season 3 could pick up with the ratings and find the right kind of viewers.
Despite the show's rating problems in the second season, SEAL Team has one of the most passionate and dedicated followers. Hence, CBS could not yet let go of this military drama because of its solid fanbase.
Meanwhile, SEAL Team season 3 will pick up after the cliffhanger season 2 finale. Showrunner John Glenn revealed to TV Line where the series will head to next once it's back on the air.
"At the end of the show, we are with Jason alone, and he goes into a bar, and he has a drink, and the bartender asks him how he's doing," Glenn said. "The cliffhanger is he looks up at us, and I won't tell you what he says, but the cliffhanger is really about his mental state. It's very emotional, it's very charter-centric, and it's very personal."
Boreanaz, on the other hand, told The Hollywood Reporter that he sees new relationships play significantly have an impact in SEAL Team season 3. Perhaps there will be a good love story coming up for one of the characters, but he's not sure if this will come up sooner rather than later.
The actor also said that SEAL Team has a lot of war veteran viewers and some of them even give technical advice on the show. Boreanaz also said that he's grateful the show is getting a lot of recognition from the real-life heroes.
