The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's son Archie were baptized in the private chapel at Windsor Castle, the venue for Harry and Meghan's nuptials, on Saturday. The christening of the child gathered some of the members of the royal family and some close friends. The christening had many similarities with the baptism of other Cambridge children. For example, the child wore an iconic replica of the Honiton gown, which was originally made in 24. The gown was also worn during the christening of other royals which includes Prince Edward and James Viscount Severn, the Countess of Wessex's son.
Just like other Cambridge kids, the christening of Harry's son was officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He also baptized Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in 2013, 2015, 2018 respectively. He also baptized Meghan before her nuptials to the Prince in 2018 during a private ceremony.
The kid was christened using holy water taken from the River Jordan transported to the U.K. It is a tradition for the royal family. They used the same source of for the chastening of Charlotte and Louis.
Archie's private christening was attended by other members of the royal family and some guests including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and Archie's grandmother, Doria Ragland. The Queen and Prince Philip failed to attend the baptism because they had prior commitments. The couple is also absent during the christening of Louis. The godparents of the kid also attended the event, but their identities remained private. Rumors said that Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hills are listed as Archie's godparents. The ladies were seen with Meghan at Wimbledon on Thursday.
