A skeleton, a flamingo, an egg and a whole lot more weirdness are coming to The Masked Singer season 2. A newly-released promo of the FOX celebrity singing contest has indeed sparked some interest from viewers.
The Masked Singer season 2 unveiled its very first teaser on July 9 to show who is going to be performing in the upcoming installment. FOX also announced that the new season would premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8:00 p.m.
Aside from the skeleton, flamingo, and egg, there are also contestants in a fox and eagle costume. Mind you; these are just six of the 16 singers who have been asked to join The Masked Singer season 2, per The Wrap.
What crazy costume must people still expect to see? Viewers have all season long to find out as a batch of masked singers will be unveiled every week.
Like last season, contestants on The Masked Singer season 2 will perform before a panel that includes Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Ken Jeong. These stars will have to guess who are the faces behind the masks, just like the audience and the viewers.
Plenty of viewers were surprised when they learned who was game to perform while covered in silly costumes on The Masked Singer season 1. Among these celebrities were Tori Spelling, Ricki Lake, Donny Osmond, Rumer Willis, Gladys Knight, Joey Fatone, and T-Pain.
Executive producer Craig Plestis told E! News that they have received calls from stars who want to be one of the masked singers. The casting crew, however, have some simple requests from these celebrities.
"It's not about what they've done before," Plestis said. "It's just about can they sing, do they want to do it, are they passionate about it? And also, we're shooting it these weeks, are you free these weeks?"
The celebrities must also be willing to go crazy with the costumes, which take at least a month to prepare. If a star doesn't have a sense of humor than he or she will not likely be asked to be on the singing contest.
Secrets and security are tight in The Masked Singer season 2. They need to ensure that the celebrity's identity won't get leaked online before the singer has to perform.
Plestis also said that the clues for The Masked Singer season 2 would be a lot harder. Expect some high-profile guests to join in the panel as well.
