Almost three months after the fifth season finale, ABC has renewed How To Get Away With Murder for a new season. But while the whole Murder fandom is excited and thrilled as they wait for the new season's arrival, it has been recently announced that the sixth season will already be the last and final run of the Shondaland-produced series.
On Thursday, ABC gave the full details about the apparent renewal statuses and finales of their hit shows. And it has been revealed that How To Get Away With Murder Season 6 will house a total of 15 episodes.
According to TV Line, the series showrunner, Pete Nowalk, has largely expressed his gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has supported him and the show. And based on his statement, he revealed that deciding to end the show was a pretty "brutal decision."
He also explained that the show's story explicitly tells its path and how it will ultimately go. And for How To Get Away With Murder, "it's here." Even so, Nowalk admitted that having a total of 15 episodes to wrap Annalise Keating's story is a very "rare" gift for most showrunners and creators. This is why he also thanked ABC and ABC Studios for the opportunity to give all the characters their respective "killer endings."
Despite the show's apparent decline during its fourth and fifth season run, How To Get Away With Murder has remained strong and solid, especially when the viewership numbers for delay viewings are essentially considered. This is why a lot of people are quite saddened with the announcement that it will already conclude its course and plot.
Nevertheless, Pete Nowalk hinted that the finale of the show will certainly be full of "twists and turns." This actually makes him more thrilled and excited for the fans to witness these things as per E!. Furthermore, he concluded his statements with the words "buckle up" to fully emphasize how the new season will drive the Murder fans crazy.
It is worth noting that the previous season ended with Annalise searching for Laurel as she disappeared in the middle of the crowd. Also, the Keating 4 has learned that the FBI already knows what they've done in the past few years. Therefore, the new season will definitely feature heart-stopping and jaw-dropping twists and revelations before it finally wraps up.
Along with the Shondaland-produced series, Modern Family is also set to conclude its course when Season 11 arrives on the network as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
How To Get Away With Murder Season 6 will premiere on September 26, on ABC.
