In no time, Succession Season 2 will hit the small screens with new episodes of family drama. HBO has dropped the show's official trailer, teasing more backstabbing and betrayal that involve the Roys.

The new season will exactly pick up where the previous season ended when the family is struggling to maintain control of their media conglomerate empire. In the first season, the show received rave reviews by featuring the Murdoch family analog that seemed to be the equivalent of real-life "NewsCorp and its Fox News/20th Century Fox operations," per SlashFilm.

Despite being a drama series, the show has a touch of being satirical that makes it a major critical hit, although it has poor ratings. However, its critical theme is what makes HBO decides to order for Succession Season 2.

In the new season, the Roy family will face the consequences of the Season 1 finale. Logan (Brian Cox) set his kids to fight with each other while he decides who will inherit his media empire. However, his deteriorating health gets in the way.

But despite his poor health, the Roys will have new business partners with the new media family, which will be played by the newcomers Cherry Jones and Holly Hunter, coming to town. Fans will also see Kendall (Jeremy Strong) trying to redeem himself in Succession Season 2. He will return to the scene after a failed power grab.

Logan will continue to be the ruthless patriarch in the second season, while Roman (Kieran Culkin) seems to be ready to roast other family members and their employees. There will be a new challenger coming in the new season, too.

According to IndieWire, Shiv (Sarah Snook) may be the best contender to replace Logan's place in Succession Season 2. Tom (Matthew McFadyen) and Greg (Nicholas Braun) will also continue their reign as the series' comedic twosome.

The new faces, Jones and Hunter, will be part of the family reconciliation process while trying their competitive skills. Although the Roy family only plays the media game, they may try to expand their business at a quicker rate than before - both in terms of company size and influence they have.

And since this is the show about money, power, and influence created by Jesse Armstrong, fans can expect to continue seeing posh scenes from helicopter aerial shots on the New York skyline to grand properties and business board rooms. The dark and funny scenes will also continue in Succession Season 2 when it hits the small screen on Aug. 11 on HBO.
