BIGBANG had always been known as a five-member group. The legendary K-pop band is consist of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri. Although the members sometimes release albums as solo artists or duos, they would always go back as a group.

But while the older boys were away completing their mandatory military services, youngest member Seungri decided to retire from the industry, just four months before T.O.P was discharged from enlistment.

Seungri was involved in a shocking controversy that he left BIGBANG and his management YG Entertainment to sort things out. As of this writing, the 28-year-old singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, entrepreneur, DJ, and creative director can't return to BIGBANG, as he clearly said in his retirement announcement.

“At this point, I think it would be best if I retire from the entertainment industry,” Seungri announced back in March, translated by Soompi. “I decided on retiring from the entertainment industry as the issues that I caused a societal disturbance with are too major. Regarding the issues that are being investigated, I will be investigated diligently and reveal all the suspicions.”

The troubled star is currently facing seven criminal charges, which are solicitation of prostitution and prostitution mediation, occupational embezzlement of Burning Sun funds, occupational embezzlement of attorney’s fees, instigating destruction of evidence, violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, and violation of the Food Sanitation Act.

And since he noted that he wanted to steer clear from the industry while he is still dealing with this matter, it is safe to say that Seungri is not going to return to the K-pop world anytime soon. Those charges against him are quite serious, and it will definitely take a while for it to be settled.

For now, Seungri is certainly thinking about these charges and returning to K-pop hasn’t probably crossed his mind for months. Also, he loves and respects his former BIGBANG members, so he wouldn’t do anything to drag them to his controversy.

On the other hand, we don’t know what the future brings. Who knows, maybe Seungri will change his mind and return to the entertainment world and be a part of BIGBANG once again. For now, though, this is far from happening.

However, it is worth noting that fans will always support the group no matter what. So if ever BIGBANG will return as a four-member group, VIPs will always be there for them.
