For over a decade, BIGBANG is a five-member group. G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri defied the odds when they successfully survived K-pop’s infamous five-year curse.

All groups before them disbanded after being together for five years. But BIGBANG stayed strong for over ten years and their success kept on growing. The only time they took a long break from the industry is when the four older members had to do their mandatory military service.

But while G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung were away completing their compulsory duties, Seungri was dealing with a shocking controversy that led him to retire from the entertainment world. The 28-year-old singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, entrepreneur, DJ, and creative director believed that the best thing for him to do at the time was to quit the industry to face the charges.

So what will happen to BIGBANG now? Will G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung continue as a four-member group, or will they add a new member to replace Seungri? For now, it is hard to know their plans as three members are still actively serving in the military.

But BIGBANG has been in the business for so long that they don’t need to add a new member to bring hype to the group. G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung can definitely return as a four-member group and fans would still support and accept them with open arms. VIPs have already invested in BIGBANG for thirteen years.

If you really think about it, adding a new member to BIGBANG would be weird. The boys have been together for so long so the newbie member would definitely feel out of place.

Meanwhile, it is quite clear that fans miss the dynamic of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri. However, BIGBANG’s former maknae already made his decision, and deep down inside fans know it was the best option for him and for the group.

T.O.P faced a controversy of his own back in 2017 and G-Dragon was rumored to be receiving special treatment in the military. While their issues were settled, BIGBANG doesn’t need more negativity because all the members will be discharged before the year ends.

Seungri knows this. He has so much love and respect for his former members that he wouldn't do anything to drag them to his controversy, which is why retiring from the industry was his best bet.
