There will be Deadpool 3 on the big screen with Ryan Reynolds. Creator Rob Liefeld assured the fans of the franchise that they are working on the next installment.
According to LadBible, Liefeld was fielding fan questions on Twitter when he talked about Deadpool 3. He said that it is going to happen and it will be coming soon.
It's no secret that several projects were shelved for the time being, including Deadpool 3, when FOX initiated a deal to merge with Disney last 2018. No matter the outcome of the business deal at that time, Liefeld remained confident that the third installment will still be given a green light.
He said that the Deadpool franchise is lucrative and it is FOX's most valuable asset. Hence, its likely Disney won't give this up and will continue putting out more movies featuring the Merc with the Mouth.
Reynolds also agreed with Liefeld about the status of Deadpool 3 with the FOX and Disney merger.
"I wouldn't imagine that Disney bought Fox to dismantle it or something like that," the actor told Entertainment Weekly."I think that Disney bought Fox so it could have that in its arsenal."
As it is, however, with the merger settled, Disney has not confirmed anything regarding Deadpool 3. Director David Leitch, on the other hand, said that he's onboard the next installment once it's given the go by the studio.
In an interview with CBR, Leitch shared that he's got plenty of ideas for Deadpool 3 and he's been keeping these close to his vest. He also said that he'll be grateful to the studio if they will call and ask him back on the set.
But fans have some questions about how Disney will handle the franchise when it owns the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In the comic book versions, Deadpool is actually in this universe but the character has yet to be introduced in the movies due to the licensing agreements.
Will Deadpool 3 become part of the next phase of MCU or will it remain a solo movie franchise? Will Disney consider sanitizing future movies in this franchise?
Deadpool is not like any of the superhero movies at the box office because the character is obnoxious and should be extremely unlikeable. The movie is also R-rated because of the language and the violence. However, its box office numbers show that fans love both the original and sequel release, which ran in theaters in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
