Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo did not disclose the real score between them when they were still working on the 2016 hit SBS series titled Descendants of the Sun. Avid followers of the Hallyu superstars had been speculating that Joong Ki and Hye Kyo developed romantic feelings for each other while filming for the said show. Despite the unending dating rumors, both camps denied the romance reports and insisted that they were just friends at the time.

However, things changed when Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo announced, in July 2017, their decision to tie the knot. The Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency (UAA) issued a joint statement and confirmed some details of their wedding day. "There was no choice but to be cautious prior to marriage, and so we are at last conveying this message. We ask for everyone's understanding," the statement read. "We ask for you to send the couple best wishes for their beautiful future together, and the two actors will be conveying the news to their fans separately. Thank you."

On Oct. 31, 2017, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo exchanged their wedding vows in Shilla Hotel in Seoul City, South Korea. Close relatives and friends, which included Encounter star Park Bo Gum, attended the private event. Some news outlet even called it as the "Wedding of the Decade."

However, less than two years since they, officially, tied the knot, Song Joong Ki announced his decision to file a divorce from Song Hye Kyo. UAA claimed that the Full House actress was not informed about Joong Ki's choice before the case was filed. The agency revealed that the irreconcilable differences between the two South Korean superstars are among the primary reasons behind the split.

On Monday, a family court in South Korea approved a divorce settlement for Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. Yonhap reported that the court held a closed-door hearing over the divorce for the Song-Song couple. However, no other details were made public until now. United Artists Agency stated that there would be no settlement money or division of property involved under the divorce arrangement.

Meanwhile, AllKpop shared Hye Kyo avoided talking about her recent divorce from Joong Ki during a recent interview. The Hong Kong Tatler interviewed the 37-year-old South Korean actress while attending an event for Chaumet in Monaco. Instead of discussing her failed marriage, Hye Kyo, reportedly, mentioned about being in Monaco, shared comments about the Chaumet event, and expressed her interest to wear a tiara on her birthday.
