Is This Country season 3 all set to return on television this year? BBC Three has renewed the show for a third season last April 2018. Following the special episode release last October, fans were promised that a new season would be ready by 2019.
With more than a year since the renewal confirmation, fans are eager to watch new episodes of this award-winning comedy series. However, BBC Three has not yet revealed the show's return date nor released any teasers to confirm when it should start its run.
Speculations are that This Country season 3 will likely be aired towards the end of 2019. However, previous seasons were released around February for season 2 and March for season 1, thus marking a spring outing as the ideal time. Could the third season premiere be pushed to early 2020?
This Country features two cousins and their escapades in the small town of Cotswold. Kerry and Kurtan always end up in mischief because there's not much to do in their laidback village. The premise brings loads of laughs, which has given the show a few awards at the BAFTA.
"Once in a while a show lands fully formed, and audiences take it to their hearts immediately," BBC Network's Controller of Comedy Commissioning Shane Allen said in the press release. "Daisy and Charlie's characters and the world have struck a chord with viewers of all ages as their sharp writing delivers a winning mix of heartfelt moments and punchy belly laughs, all performed to comic perfection."
At the end of This Country season 2, Kerry (played by Daisy May Cooper) was seen going to the police station to comply with an investigation regarding stolen vacuum cleaners. Will she own up to the crime, or will she get away with it? Evidence strongly points to her since it was her name, which was on the lock-up where the stolen goods were discovered.
Aside from Daisy May, expected to return to This Country season 3 is her brother, Charlie Cooper, who co-created the show. The actor plays Kerry's cousin, Kurtan Mucklowe, in this mockumentary series.
Also reprising their roles for This Country season 3 are Paul Cooper as Martin, Kerry's estranged dad, Paul Chahidi as the local vicar Reverend Francis Seaton and Ashley Maguire as the aspiring tattoo artist Mandy Harris.
Previous seasons of This Country are available via BBC iPlayer and DVD boxsets.
