Read at your own risk: This article may contain possible spoilers for Mindhunter.

The long wait is over as Mindhunter Season 2 is just about a few weeks away. And with the new trailer that has been released earlier this week, fans can no longer contain the excitement and thrill toward the new season.

According to TV Line, the second season will center on the infamous Atlanta Child Murders that occurred between 1979 and 1981. Serial killers like Wayne Williams, Charles Manson, and David Berkowitz or also known as the Son of Sam are the persons of interests of the upcoming course.

With this at hand, it only goes to show that the next run will feature new faces and characters. Even so, the old crew is confirmed to return including, especially, Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv. They will reprise their roles as Holden Ford, Bill Tench, and Wendy Carr, respectively.

While the overall plot may bring new sets of storylines, there will be a lot to "cover" aside from the notorious serial killers' arcs. As it happens, the premise of Mindhunter Season 2 will also focus on the application of the groundbreaking "behavioral analysis" that will be spearheaded by famous psychologist Wendy Carr.

While the main course will play out as intended, Screen Rant has revealed recently that the plot will also pick up where it last left off. And as any avid fan would recall, the finale showed Holden's apparent breakdown. So, it is very likely that the new season will tackle and outline this occurrence.

But before the theories about Holden being a serial killer at the end fully emerge and bloom, Digital Spy reiterated a few months ago what the crew and cast have revealed.

As per the publication, the fans should not "expect" for it to come true in the future. And however long the series will play out, this will not be the endgame nor the twist that the fans could see in the show.

When Mindhunter first aired on Netflix in 2017, it easily "charmed" and caught the attention of many, especially those who are into true-crime drama series. And with the show's compelling and thrilling "tried-and-true" serial killer plot, it is no wonder why the platform renewed the series for a new season.

Mindhunter Season 2 premieres on August 16, on Netflix. And it is expected for the new season to house a total of ten episodes just like what it did in its previous season.
