It's official. Ariana Grande is releasing new music on August 2, and the Thank You, Next singer has released a teaser clip of her song Boyfriend on her social media.
Ariana has been teasing about her new music for weeks through Twitter and Instagram, but she finally dropped the teaser of her new song on her social media account yesterday. Fans are already excited to learn that the song is another collaboration with Social House, the duo that helped her release the megahit Thank You, Next. The video will also be directed by Alfredo Flores and Hannah Davis, who collaborated with Ariana in her previous video.
It can be recalled that since dropping Instagram pics of the music video for Boyfriend, Arianators have been abuzz about the new music that Ariana will release. There were even rumors that Ari will be collaborating with Taylor Swift because she captioned one of her posts with an emoji of a bow and arrow. Fans believed for a time that this was an allusion to Taylor, who recently released her song entitled The Archer.
However, some music experts debunked the possibility of a Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande collaboration because of an ongoing feud between Swift and Grande's manager Scooter Braun over the latter's purchase of Taylor's former music label, and along with it, the masters for her previous albums. Like Ariana, Taylor is currently signed under Republic Records.
In her teaser, Ariana teased that she will also be wearing Givenchy as her fashion of choice, and a quick look at her Instagram will reveal that she has been collaborating with the fashion line in recent weeks.
Ariana Grande is currently the most nominated artist in MTV's Video Music Awards with 10 nominations under her belt, including top awards for Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. Taylor Swift shares the lead with 10 nominations.
While the buzz is high, the two artists have the best chance of taking home the top honors at the VMAs, Ariana has already shared with her fans that she might not be able to attend the event slated for August 26 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, BT reported.
According to the pop star, she will be in the middle of her Sweetener World Tour at the time and is scheduled to perform in Manchester on the 25th and Paris on the 27th.
