Daesung was in hot water after it was reported that the building that he owns is involved in prostitution and illegal drugs activities. The BIGBANG star already released a statement regarding the matter, denying any involvement or awareness with all the illegal activities that took place in his property.
Now, Channel A is reporting that the 30-year-old singer, actor and television personality is selling his Gangnam building for 40 billion won ($33.5 million). Daesung will be profiting 5 billion won ($4.2 million) if sold.
A reporter from the station pretended to be a buyer and called up the broker of the building, that’s when the channel confirmed that the building had been put on sale. Channel A then allegedly discovered that Daesung suddenly decided to sell the building after he found out that there will be a report about the illegal activities taking place inside.
The channel then said that the broker confirmed that YG Entertainment is involved in selling the building. “Yes, it’s Y entertainment, I won’t add the G,” the broker allegedly said.
The report then shared that authorities are having a hard time with the investigation as the illegal business that was going on in the building quickly shut down.
Before the alleged sale, Daesung already confronted the issue and released a statement. The BIGBANG star is currently completing his mandatory military service, so his agency YG Entertainment shared the statement for him on July 26.
“At the time of purchasing the building, the business was already taking place as there were tenants that had already moved in, so I was not properly aware of the illegal activities of the relevant companies,” Daesung explained. “For establishments that have been identified to have done illegal activities, we will immediately be taking legal action, and with my responsibilities as the landlord, I will do my best.”
Daesung’s prostitution and illegal drugs controversy is not the first for BIGBANG. T.O.P was involved in a marijuana scandal with ex-girlfriend Han Seo Hee back in 2017, and Seungri is currently facing seven charges including solicitation of prostitution and prostitution mediation, violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, occupational embezzlement of Burning Sun funds, and instigating destruction of evidence.
Seungri then announced his retirement from the entertainment world so he could focus on his charges. He is no longer a member of BIGBANG nor an artist in YG Entertainment.
