Avid followers of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo remain taken aback after learning that fate of their marriage. The Song-Song couple is known to be very private when it comes to their relationship. Thus, some fans are still wondering what went wrong in their, approximately, one year and eight months of marriage.

Both Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo kept mum about the real status of their relationship while they were still working on the 2016 hit series titled Descendants of the Sun. Devoted supporters of the two have been speculating that they were in a secret relationship at the time. However, both camps kept on denying the romance reports.

In July 2017, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo shocked everyone when they unveiled their plans to tie the knot. Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency (UAA) issued a joint statement, confirming some of the details about their wedding.

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo tied the knot on Oct. 31, 2019, in Shilla Hotel, Seoul City, South Korea. "We have come to walk the same path that people worldwide have walked before us. At times it'll rain, winds will blow and we may trip over obstacles. But over time, we will bravely get up again by holding each other's hand," the Arthdal Chronicles actor stated during the exclusive ceremony. Joong Ki even promised to nurture their love for each other as they continue to grow as a faithful couple.

However, things changed suddenly when Song Joong Ki announced his plan to split from Song Hye Kyo. In a statement released in June, the Descendants of the Sun actor stated that he decided to file for divorce but he did not reveal the "mistake" they both made. Just last week, the Song-Song divorce was finalized at a Seoul court. The pair, reportedly, settled their divorce at a closed-door hearing held at Seoul Family Court.

Now, new reports suggested that Song Joong Ki's career has suffered a lot since the shocking divorce announcement. Local media in Seoul reported that the endorsements of Song Hye Kyo's ex-husband have reduced significantly.

Aside from that, drama productions companies are said to be including a "divorce clause" in the forthcoming contracts after Arthdal Chronicles suffered a drop in ratings due to Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo reports. It is being claimed that actors that would file a divorce while a series airs would have to pay three times their contract fee as a penalty.

While Joong Ki's career is said to be badly affected after the divorce, Hye Kyo remains supported by the brands that she is endorsing. Both Hallyu superstars have yet to comment on these reports. Stay tuned to Business Times for the latest news and updates about Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo!
