Get Shorty season 3 is officially happening as EPIX renewed the comedy-drama series starring Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano. But while the renewal status has been confirmed, there were only a few details surround it. For now, here's what we know so far about the upcoming installment.
It was revealed last year that Get Shorty season 3 will arrive this 2019 — the first and second season premiered in August 2017 and 2018, respectively. So, many speculated the third installment would also be released around the same month this 2019. But according to a report, the third season will air on October 6 at 10 PM.
The series is available on EPIX in the US, but fans in the UK can also watch it on Sky Atlantic and online streaming site NOW TV. Following the renewal announcement in December 2018, EPIX President Michael Wright said O'Dowd and Romano embraced their roles in the series, adding that the EPIX team looks forward to working again with Adam Arkin, Davey Holmes, as well as the MGM Television team.
As for the cast of Get Shorty season 3, O'Dowd will reprise his role as Miles Daly, who's still trying to escape from his past being a criminal. Romano will be back as Rick Moreweather, who is a struggling film producer and he took Miles under his wing. Sean Bridges, on the other hand, will likely return as well as Mile's partner, Louis Darnell.
Other cast members expected to return in the third installment include Sarah Stiles (as Gladys), Lucy Walters (Katie Daly), Megan Stevenson (April Quinn), Goya Robles (Yago), Lidia Porto (Amara De Escalones), and Carolyn Dodd (Emma Daly). It's also possible there'll be new faces in the upcoming season.
The series based on New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard. It follows Miles Daly, a hitman who previously worked for a murderous crime ring in Nevada and he turned a movie producer. He wants to move on from his past being a criminal, yet it continues to follow him.
In Get Shorty season 3, it will still follow Miles and Rick while they're trying to make their movie. It can be recalled that at the end of the second season, Miles has been struggling to balance his ambition being a filmmaker in Hollywood and as a criminal. The third installment would also pick up where it left off, which is a huge cliffhanger as Rick agreed to wear a Federal wire.
