Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter is now officially a mom, and as cool as her Marvel character is on her Netflix show, the 37-year-old actress gave her son an epic name worthy of any superhero.

Ironically, the name seems to be inspired by Batman, a character from a rival DC franchise, because Krysten named her son Bruce Julian Knight Granofsky, according to the birth certificate obtained by entertainment site TMZ. Bruce Wayne is the name of Batman's billionaire alter ego while the character is also known as the Dark Knight. Of course, this could only be mere speculation or coincidence and can only be confirmed by Krysten herself.

Krysten and long-time boyfriend Adam Granofsky welcomed Bruce Julian Knight at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on July 9 at 2:47 pm.

It was no secret that the Jessica Jones star was pregnant, but in much as the same way as the delivery news came out, the announcement that she was with a child also came as a shock to fans when she simply showed up to the Oscars with a baby bump early this year.

After the initial shock wore off, Krysten kept fans posted by sharing snaps of her pregnant self looking fabulous on her Instagram account. In her photos, she shared snaps in a swimsuit and while doing press for the latest season of her Netflix show.

Netflix has recently announced the cancellation of several Marvel series such as Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Punisher. Jessica Jones' upcoming third season will be its last.

In a statement, Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb raised fans to hope of a continued journey for the Defenders (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) even if Netflix pulls the plug on the series in the streaming platform.

"Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters... but you know Marvel better than that."

Fans are optimistic that the franchise will see a revival with Disney +, a new streaming platform owned by Disney, the studio that also owns the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Under the contract for these Marvel characters though, Disney or Marvel could not touch these characters for at least two years. This could be seen as good news, but this will give them plenty of time to develop their extended run on the new platform. This can also give Krysten Ritter plenty of time to focus on her new baby as studio execs decide what will happen to Jessica Jones.

"The final season of #JessicaJones is coming later this year, and I am proud of how we complete JJ's journey. I can't wait for you all to see it," Ritter said in her Instagram post about the final season of her epic series.
