The premiere of Steven Universe: The Movie is only a few weeks away yet fans seem to have other things in mind. People are still wondering about Steven Universe Season 6, which could continue to follow Steven and the Crystal Gems. So what could happen when the animated series finally returns to Cartoon Network? There are speculations that Pearl's love life could be explored as the fate of the Mystery Girl is finally revealed.
There is little doubt that Pearl's relationship with Rose Quartz has been a driving force in Pearl's storyline. However, the series somehow alluded to the possibility that Pearl has finally moved on and is ready to find love elsewhere. This was confirmed in the episode 'Last One Out of Beach City' where Pearl encountered a Mystery Girl who resembled Rose. Although it seemed like she would never get the courage to speak to the woman, Pearl surprised everyone at the end of the episode.
In Steven Universe Season 4 Episode 6, Steven, Amethyst, and Steven decided to go to a rock show. Along the way, they find a pink-haired woman who strongly resembles Rose Quartz, something that immediately makes Pearl notice her. The trio spend much of the episode getting chance encounters with Mystery Girl although Pearl never seemed to be confident enough to approach her. In the end, the two finally had a conversation, and it is revealed that Mystery Girl gave Pearl her phone number.
It certainly was an exciting moment for fans who have been hoping for Pearl to move on with her life. Unfortunately, Mystery Girl has yet to return in the series. Not surprisingly, people are already hoping that she will show up in Steven Universe Season 6. There are even speculations that her relationship with Pearl could finally be explored once the show returns on Cartoon Network.
Although people have high hopes for Steven Universe Season 6, it is important to point out that the series has not yet been renewed. For now, it looks like creator Rebecca Sugar and the cast and crew are focusing on the feature film that will take place two years after the events in 'Change Your Mind.' If the show does get a renewal, there is a possibility that it will take place sometime in the future as well. By then, Pearl would have already settled down with Mystery Girl.
Steven Universe: The Movie will premiere on Cartoon Network on September 2.
