Over the weekend, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were bombarded with negative criticisms for their jet-set lifestyle. It was claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex used a private jet to travel four times in the space of four days.

One of the stops in the said travel spree was the house of Princess Diana's dear friend Elton John in France. The singer immediately rose to the defense of the royal couple and clarified that he was the one who provided Harry and Meghan with a private jet flight given their need for security and protection, The Guardian reported.

According to the Rocketman singer,  being one of Diana's closest friends, he feels strongly protective of her children and their families, especially from malicious reports that cast doubt on their integrity.

"I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana's untimely death. After a hectic year continuing their hard work and dedication to charity, David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home," Elton John said in his statement.

It has not escaped public attention that Princess Diana had a very close bond with her sons and they try to reconnect with her through their work and her friends. In a recent Diana Award event, Prince Harry spoke highly of the role his mother played in his life as well as to countless other people whom she inspired, 7 News reported.

He said that now that he is also a father, he seeks to be a role model to his son Archie like his mother was to him and his brother.

Meanwhile, a PR expert recently spoke up to share some unsolicited advice for the Duchess of Sussex in dealing with her royal fans and the media. In an interview with PR expert Anthony Burr, the media practitioner said that Meghan Markle needs to work on her image lest she be dubbed the diva duchess.

While Burr said that it was understandable that the duchess would crave some privacy from time to time and would feel tired of the constant attention, she should take a page from Princess Diana's book. After her death, it was revealed that the Princess never felt comfortable in the spotlight, but she still soldiered on and performed her royal duties, endearing her to the public even decades after her death.
