In less than a week, Taylor Swift's seventh album, Lover, is about to drop. And ahead of its release, it has been revealed that the pre-selling went too well that almost everyone is seeing a very successful album release on Friday.
According to Variety, Republic Records has spoken about the highly anticipated album. It seemingly appears that even the company's founder, Monte Lipman, is quite overwhelmed with Taylor's "extraordinary" efforts to make Lover a very successful album.
The founder and chairman continued to reveal that Lover's pre-sales have already reached "nearly" a million copies all over the globe. And with this kind of figure, many are now seeing that the album will work well in its opening week.
As it happens, the last album that sold over a million copies in the US during its opening week was 2017's Reputation, which is also Taylor Swift's work. But with what Lover is showing based on its recent records of sales, it looks like Taylor will just beat herself from one album to another.
While this is truly monumental, this is not what makes it more surprising and grand. The streaming era has already begun. And for many years, many artists and records have already given up with direct album sales due to the digital era's entrance in the industry.
But even so, the case is far different for Taylor Swift. And it seems that she's changing the whole game as Lover proves that album sales can still work extraordinarily in this late streaming era. The trends just continue to rise for her not only in the general album sales but also in her album tours.
Accordingly, it is expected that when Lover drops on August 23, the album sales will generate more than what Reputation had in 2017.
Today, there are already four tracks that have been released ahead of the album's arrival. These are ME! back in April, You Need To Calm Down in June, The Archer in July, and Lover just a few days ago.
As per Billboard, the title track for the album has already reached the ninth spot on the UK charts, which makes it Taylor Swift's fourteenth "Top 10" singles over the years. And with ME!'s third spot, You Need To Calm Down's fifth placement, and The Archer's place in number 43, it only goes to show that Lover has much more to offer when it finally drops.
