NCIS season 17 has already started filming, and some cast members are teasing fans on what to expect on the upcoming installment. But perhaps, one of the most anticipated moments in the new season is the return Cote de Pablo's character, Ziva, and the good news is there were some behind the scenes updates.
In his recent post via Instagram, Wilmer Valderrama shared some behind the scenes of de Pablo's character. The first photo shows the two, along with Emily Wickersham, on the set of the series and they have smiles on their faces. It's surprising seeing photos featuring Ziva as CBS has been previously secretive with some information, specifically about de Pablo's return in the series.
Ziva will appear in the first episode of NCIS season 17, and the character might be featured more as the new installment continues. In the premiere, de Pablo's character will help Gibbs (Mark Harmon) after she comes to him and claims that someone is out then that could threaten his life.
In the previous season, Ziva is wearing a different outfit and sporting a different hairstyle, which only suggests that the character could be in the upcoming season for at least a few episodes. But then, the question is: will Ziva leave once again after NCIS season 17?
While the showrunners confirmed de Pablo's character return in the new season, Frank Cardea and Steven Binder said in a statement that the actress would appear as "guest star." That only means Ziva might be back for about a few episodes, or at least, in season 17, and her fate in future seasons remains unknown.
But aside from de Pablo's behind the scenes, Valderrama also shared other filming updates - which include horses. It seems like a lot is going on in a particular episode, especially since the team is out and they aren't filming in the studio - hinting they are probably shooting a crime scene.
As per CarterMatt, it's nice to see NCIS being a little bit rural since this is a great opportunity to throw some characters out of their elements, making the series even more exciting and better. These characters will be put in difficult situations, allowing them to show off their different sides.
Some viewers are particularly hoping that there would be changes coming up for Torres (Valderrama) and Bishop (Wickersham), especially in confronting the feelings they have for each other. The change, however, may not happen immediately but will develop throughout the season.
NCIS season 17 premieres on Tuesday, September 24, on CBS.
