All American season 2 is arriving soon on The CW, which is based on the story of African-American pro-NFL player Spencer Paysinger. Here's what to expect in the second installment of the soapy football drama.
In late January, The CW renewed 10 series, leaving the fate of All American up in the air. But then, the network announced the renewal of the second season in May, and the series is now also available to stream on Netflix. All American season 2 is officially arriving on Monday, October 7, on The CW. The IMDb page also suggests it will consist of 13 episodes, though that wasn't officially confirmed.
Lead star Daniel Ezra, who plays Spencer James, will surely return in the second installment. Other cast members are expected to come back include Karimah Westbrook (as Grace James), Bre-Z (Tamia 'Coop' Cooper), Taye Diggs (Coach Baker), Greta Onieogou (Leila Keating), Samantha Logan (Olivia Baker), and Cody Christian (Asher Adams).
Also, Michael Evans Behling (Jordan Baker), Monet Mazur (Laura Fine-Baker), Jalyn Hall (Dillon James), Chelsea Tavares (Patience), Brent Jennings (Willy Baker), and Demetrius Shipp Jr (Tyrone Morris) will possibly return as well. The second season could also mean the new character might be joining the series.
All American is based on the life story of Spencer Paysinger, who plays for the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins. The African-American pro-NFL player retired in 2018, but his life wasn't smooth sailing from being a football star in high school to becoming professional. The series follows Paysinger's youth, played by Ezra.
As for the plot of All American season 2, The CW's official synopsis said Spencer James is now a football State Champion but has some tough decisions to make. He needs to choose whether staying in Beverly Hills and play for Coach Billy Baker or move back home to South LA to reunite with his family and play for his father Corey (Chad Coleman) - South Crenshaw Chargers new head coach.
This is a hard decision for Spencer because it isn't just about football - its choosing between the people he loves. So, what would be his decision? But since the series is based on a real-life story of Paysinger, viewers can expect the story will expand beyond high school, and perhaps college, along with challenges.
The trailer of All American season 2 was not yet released, but it will likely drop at some point in September, which is before its release in October.
