Just like everybody else George R.R. Martin is also excited to see the upcoming Game of Thrones Prequel. The 70-year-old author is looking forward to taking a glimpse of the pilot in September as showrunner Jane Goldman is now busy working on the post-production process.

With a tentative title of Blood Moon or The Long Night, the show's production recently wrapped up. According to Winter is Coming, the spinoff is based on eight random sentences scattered throughout Martin's books, proving she brings a lot to the table.

When Martin and Goldman met in Santa Fe, the two had long discussions about Game of Thrones Prequel before she started to make it. At the time, the screenwriter only had a few little signposts for the show, which might feature a time before the Andals came.

In an interview with Joe, Martin revealed he could not talk about the new show anymore as "HBO would have kittens." The network is known for being secretive, and it doesn't want to give away anything that may turn into a spoiler. But although the author is not allowed to give any details, he still divulged some information - like his involvement in the series and when he will see the rough cut of the pilot.

Meanwhile, Martin also discussed the other series he pitched to HBO. Called Spear Carriers, it is about the point of view of ordinary folk, retelling the story of Game of Thrones. When he wrote A Song of Ice and Fire, on which the original series is based, he often wondered about the people in the background.

Martin wanted to know what are these people thinking and their feelings, especially if they have to go to a battle. It could be something like Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern Are Dead, which followed the story of two guys from Hamlet. However, HBO seemed to be uninterested about it.

For Martin, Spear Carriers would be an "interesting anthology show," where they could use footage from Game of Thrones itself. "For example, show Tyrion giving his speech before the battle but instead of following him into the battle, follow one of the guys that's hearing the speech," he said. Then, what happened to this guy would be seen.

It may also tell the backstory of some of the minor characters, like the prostitutes in the brothel of Littlefinger. There are a lot of potential stories that it can tell, but HBO refused the idea. So far, the only thing that the network has invested in is Game of Thrones Prequel.
