Royal fans may be eagerly awaiting news of Princess Beatrice's engagement with her beau, property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi,  but it seems that wedding bells could be delayed if Princess Eugenie becomes pregnant.

According to a report by Express UK, royal protocol dictates that the news of engagement should be made after the birth of a royal. This was the same case that happened to Princess Margaret in 1960 when she was about to make the announcement of her engagement to Antony Armstrong-Jones.

However, at the time, Queen Elizabeth II was pregnant with Prince Andrew and asked her younger sister to delay her announcement until she gives birth. Princess Margaret granted her sister's request, and only after the prince was born did she make her engagement news public a week later.

If Princess Eugenie falls pregnant with her husband Jack Brooksbank, whom she married in October 2018, this may mean that her older sister Beatrice would have to postpone engagement announcements and wedding plans until her sister gives birth.

It has been speculated that Princess Beatrice and her beau Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have been thinking of getting married sometime in spring or summer next year.

Ingrid Sewald, an editor of Hello! Magazine has already reported that the marriage news has been confirmed by a member of the royal family. While Princess Beatrice is only ninth in line to the throne and does not need to secure her grandmother's approval to get married, it is most likely that she would still deliver the news to her personally.

According to the editor, it was likely that princess Beatrice may have enlisted her family's support in breaking the news to the Queen as they have been spotted in Aberdeenshire recently, which is close to Balmoral Castle, the Queen's home in Scotland.

Princess Beatrice was reportedly accompanied by her father Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, her mother Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, her sister Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack.

"It's possible they wanted to tell the Queen that Beatrice was engaged. They have to find a gap in her diary before they name the day, and this would have been the ideal opportunity to discuss it," Sewald said.

Sources close to Princess Beatrice and Edo Mozzi are not very surprised that the couple are already thinking about getting married even if it has barely been a year since they went public with their relationship. The couple has reportedly been extraordinarily close and happy together.
