After a year and a half off the air, Rick and Morty season 4 is finally returning on Adult Swim via Cartoon Network. The channel confirmed, a few months back, that the animated series will have fresh new episodes by November.
While there is no specific release date so far, clips of Rick and Morty season 4 have been presented at the Comic-Con panel over the summer. The forthcoming installment will have a special guest star in the person of director, writer, and actor Taika Waititi. He would voice an alien named Gloopie.
Gloopie will help Jerry launch a new app in Rick and Morty season 4. The character has been described as a tech-loving entity, and Waititi has brought on his trademark humor and quirkiness.
But aside from Waititi, Rick and Morty season 4 will also feature the voices of some established actors, such as Paul Giamatti, Kathleen Turner, and Sam Neill, per Entertainment Weekly. Creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon specially signed up these stars because they brought a certain flavor to the new episodes with their actual speaking voices.
The main voice cast is still going to be around for Rick and Morty season 4. Roiland, of course, will still be the voice of both lead characters, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. Spencer Grammer (as Summer), Chris Parnell (as Jerry), and Sarah Chalke (as Beth) are also returning in this latest run.
Meanwhile, the creators of Rick and Morty season 4 have been trying to keep the plotline under wraps. However, reports revealed that one episode had Roiland getting drunk to do the right voices.
"Without giving anything away, we have serialized stuff we check in on now, and then that's sprinkled over the top of strong episodic episodes," Roiland said about the type of stories to be expected in the new season. "To fans of the show, they're going to want to watch them in order."
There are also speculations that much of the episodes of Rick and Morty season 4 will feature Rick alone. Viewers will recall that when the third season ended, the Smith family went against Rick so he'll likely be going on adventures alone.
Roiland also teased the appearance of an Interdimensional Cable 3 later in the season, and there will be time travel elements. Fans expect that a full trailer for Rick and Morty season 4 should be out sometime in October and they will be happy to know that the creators are also working on the fifth season.
