Avengers: Endgame was dubbed as one of the most iconic films in movie history. The widely anticipated film gathered all of the biggest names in the entertainment industry like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, and a lot more. However, the 2019 installment of the franchise also gave fans the biggest heartbreak.
WARNING: For those who haven’t watched the Avengers: Endgame yet, you should stop reading at this point as this article reveals spoilers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film.
Avengers: Endgame created one of the best final battle scenes ever. After all the scuffle retrieving the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos, the Avengers eventually beat the villain, thanks to all of the earth’s mightiest superheroes' effort, most especially Iron Man.
To save the universe, Iron Man risked losing his life by snapping his fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet on. And just like that, everybody’s favorite genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist died right in front of our very eyes.
Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame was a hard pill to swallow. Not only was the character so brilliant to watch, people just can’t get over the fact that they will not see Robert Downey Jr. in MCU again. However, that may change.
According to a report, Robert Downey Jr.may be returning to the MCU for Ironheart. The Disney Plus series is in the works at the moment, and RDJ is reportedly going to be a part of it.
Ironheart will follow the story of Riri Williams. In the comics, Riri is a genius teenage girl who continues Tony Stark’s legacy. The source alleged that Tony Stark would be back in a voiceover capacity as the guiding A.I. of Ironheart’s suit.
While this sounded exciting, Marvel has yet to confirm the story. Robert Downey Jr. had expressed multiple times that he was ready to hang up his Iron Man suit to explore other characters — and he is doing that now after completing Avengers: Endgame.
The 54-year-old actor, producer, and singer has three upcoming movies under his belt. So will he still have time to play Iron Man in Ironheart?
Well, since it’s supposed to be just a voiceover, it could fit well to his very hectic schedule. Plus, MCU fans are dying to see (or hear) Tony Stark again, so hopefully, this could push him more to do the project.
