Lee Sun Ho, the 29 year old heir apparent of South Korean CJ Group has been arrested for suspected drug use and drug smuggling.
Lee Jin Seok, the chief prosecutor's attorney in charge of arrests at Incheon District Public Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for Lee after the interrogation stating, "He may run away or destroy evidence."
Lee's arrest was confirmed by document reviews as he said that he would not attend the review session, meaning he will not appeal the arrest. He said he would cooperate with the investigation and take responsibility for his crimes by taking any punishment meted out.
CJ's heir apparent is suspected of attempting to smuggle liquid marijuna as well as candy and jelly marijuna into Korea at Incheon International Airport on September 1st.
Lee was carrying his luggage filled with highly concentrated liquid marijuana and his backpack contained marijuana-infused candies and jellies. Lee is also suspected of use of drugs himself. He also tested positive in a drug test.
It is said that Lee purchased those marijuana infused products in Los Angeles, a state that legalized the use of recreational marijuana.
Lee walked in Incheon District Prosecutor's Office on September 4th after twice investigation and said he wishes to be arrested as soon as possible. The prosecutor's office immediately conducted an arrest in consideration of his mental state.
Lee Sun Ho is the eldest son of CJ Group Chairman Lee Jae-Hyun and joined CJ Cheiljedang in 2013. He worked as Bio Business Team director and transferred to Food Strategy Planning Team in May, 2018.
