The cult animated comedy series Paradise PD season 2 will be back on Netflix. The streaming platform confirmed that the show about some of the "worst responders" will be returning as its beefing up its adult animated comedy programming.
Paradise PD season 2 will deliver 20 episodes or double the number of episodes from season 1, per The Hollywood Reporter. Sarah Chalke is expected to be back as well to lend her voice to one of the lead characters, Gina Jabowski.
Created by Waco O'Guin and Roger Black, Paradise PD season 2 will continue with the antics of a small-town police force. Also returning for the next installment are Dana Snyder as Stanley Hopson/Dusty Marlow, Cedric Yarbrough as Gerald Fitzgerald, Dave Herman as Kevin Crawford, Tom Kenny as Chief Randall Crawford and Kyle Kinane as Bullet, the dog.
Netflix renewed Paradise PD season 2 two months after its debut on the streaming platform despite the mix reviews it earned from critics.
According to Daily Dot, the show works because it is mostly about adults having fun and less about pushing forward a political agenda. However, Paradise PD does have its moments of reflection on the social issues plaguing America today, and it will likely keep the same tone for the second season.
Decider, on the other hand, was more blunt about its criticism of the show. It noted that for an animated comedy series, Paradise PD lacks the comedy as the gags are dirty and not funny.
Netflix has yet to announce the show's actual return date, but there were speculations that the series could be up for release in the Summer of 2019. However, as that period has passed and there's still no teaser or confirmation from the streaming giant, fans are now looking towards a spring release date next year.
The delay might be justified since Paradise PD season 2 has expanded episodes. Thus, the creators are taking more time to deliver the next installment.
O'Guin recently shared a video post on Twitter to reveal that they are actively working on the new episodes. He also teased that the upcoming release will showcase another overarching story arc.
Paradise PD season 2 is expected to pick up where it left off in the first season with a focus on what happened to Kevin. Viewers will recall that he's been seen as a loser on this show, but that might change in the coming season. Will he finally get his redemption?
