Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) will return on Suits season 9 episode 9 with a proposal that cannot be refused. He'll tell Samantha Wheeler (played by Katherine Heigl) that they both can take down Faye Richardson (played by Denise Crosby) if they work together.
In a teaser for Suits season 9 episode 9, Mike seems to have convinced Samantha to file a wrongful termination suit against Faye after the latter fired her in episode 8. Mike is also seen talking to Katrina Bennett (played by Amanda Schull) who expressed some reluctance about going against her firm.
As viewers may remember, Faye fired Samantha in a previous episode because she allegedly fabricated evidence to win her case against Mike. Faye had no concrete proof of this except that she heard Samantha and Harvey arguing over this fact.
The teaser also seems to suggest that Mike will collude with Samantha to claim that there had been no fabrication in Suits season 9 episode 9. If they were adversaries in the courtroom, then Mike lost to Samantha on her own merits.
But in an unexpected turn of events, Faye will call on Samantha's former partners, Harvey Specter (played by Gabriel Macht and Louis Litt (played by Rick Hoffman), to be her defense team against this wrongful termination suit. While both men are shocked, it's still unclear if they will take on her case.
If so, Suits season 9 episode 9 might just be another showdown in the courtroom between Harvey and his former protege, Mike. The penultimate episode promises to go all out before the series bows out off television for good.
People reported that Suits season 9 wrapped up filming in August. The stars of the show posted their thanks to fans and tributes to their co-stars on social media led by Macht.
"This life that has offered us so much...some easy, many challenging, countless miles apart and hours, days, and months separating us and our loved ones not to mention years of sacrifice on so many levels," the actor wrote. "I count my blessings you sticking with me through to the bittersweet end of this era."
Even Gina Torres, who moved on to do the spinoff series Pearson, wrote a long message of thanks to the cast and crew of Suits.
"My salute to the MOST delicious cast and crew, was wonderfully private, including hugs I can still feel," Torres said.
Suits season 9 episode 9 will air on Wednesday, Sept. 18, followed by the series finale on Sept. 25.
