After almost four months of competition, it's finally down to the wire on Masterchef season 10. Nick DiGiovanni, Dorian Hunter, and Sarah Faherty will be competing for the trophy in the final episode set to air on Wednesday, Sept. 18, on FOX.

The finale of Masterchef season 10 will be a two-hour special airing from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. According to the episode synopsis, the chefs will be back to visit their hometown after their surprise to London in last week's episode.

After touching base with friends and family, Nick, Dorian and Sarah's next task in the Masterchef season 10 finale is to prepare a three-course meal to impress the judges. For added pressure, Nick, Dorian, and Sarah's friends and family will also be in the audience to watch them execute their final magic in the kitchen.

As with the previous seasons, only one is set to win as Masterchef. So, will it be Nick, Dorian or Sarah? Here's a look back at what made these three the best finalists on Masterchef season 10.

Nick is this season's fan favorite. The passionate budding cook might just walk away with the top prize because the judges love his take-charge attitude. A college student, Nick still has plenty to learn about becoming a chef, but because of his expert knowledge in how ingredients blend well, he could just win Masterchef season 10.

Dorian is the underdog of this season. The former textile worker has cooked food on this show for the very first time and did so with perfection. Dorian can be such an achiever, which is why the judges love her. Will she live up to the judges' expectations when she still has a lot of actual learning to do when it comes to becoming a chef?

Sarah's passion for cooking may be impressive and commendable as it is what made her stay in the game for so long despite competing against experienced cooks. What's great about her is that she learns pretty fast and applies what she learns in her cooking without any problems. Can this let her win Masterchef season 10?

FOX has not yet announced if the show will be renewed after Masterchef season 10. According to TV Series Finale, this installment averaged three million viewers a week and was down in the ratings by 14 to 25 percent from last season.
