CIA head James "Jim" Greer (played by Wendell Pierce) will be in Jack Ryan season 2 to join the titular character as they follow up on a new case in Venezuela. But, Greer could be in a serious situation that might end his life in the upcoming installment.

In the trailer for Jack Ryan season 2, viewers can spot Greer's character bloodied and on the floor at the 1:10 mark. Fans think that this scene hints that the CIA boss might become one of the biggest casualties and the first supporting character death in the series.

Greer isn't supposed to be in Venezuela since he was posted to head the Moscow unit of the Terror, Finance, and Arms Division (T-FAD) in the finale of Jack Ryan season 1. However, Pierce told TV Insider that this character and Jack, played by John Krasinski, will both be working on a case that will be bringing them together.

"There's a synergy of what we're both working on, where the two storylines come together," the actor said. "Jack and Greer assist each other and discover a network of people who don't have [America's] best interests at heart."

Fans have been speculating that Jack Ryan season 2 might follow a similar story as the movie Clear and Present Danger, where the CIA agent was played by Harrison Ford. In this film, Greer, played by James Earl Jones, did die but due to pancreatic cancer.

Jack Ryan season 2 will find the CIA tracking a suspicious arms deal in Venezuela. In the trailer, Jack talks about a nuclear threat.

"Venezuela is the single-greatest resource of oil on the planet," the character is heard telling his colleagues in the trailer. "So, why is this country in the midst of one of the greatest humanitarian crises in history?"

Helping Greer and Jack tie the culprits to the case are Michael Kelly as the CIA Agent Mike November and Noomi Repace, as the German operative Harry Bauman. Krasinksi also told Entertainment Weekly that his character in Jack Ryan season 2 has evolved from an analyst, who has been confined to a desk job to the main guy on the field who goes after the bad guys.

Jack Ryan season 2 will drop all episodes on Nov. 1 while the first season is still accessible on the Amazon streaming platform.
