Sophie Rundle signed up for BBC and Netflix's Bodyguard with co-star Richard Madden believing that it was a one-off series. Now that there's a strong buzz for a Bodyguard season 2 return, the actress admitted she has no idea if it's going to happen.

Rundle played Vicky, the ex-wife of Madden's Agent David Budd, who implored her husband to see a therapist in the first season of Bodyguard. Vicky was aware that David, a former soldier, suffered from something after he returned for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

David's post-traumatic stress disorder was highlighted in the story. After that heart-stopping finale between David and Vicky, devoted followers of the show on Netflix demanded for a second season.

In an interview with Metro, Rundle said that she would always get asked about Bodyguard season 2. Unfortunately, she is not privy to the discussions between Madden and showcreator Jed Mercurio.

"I don't know anything," Rundle said. "It was only ever supposed to be a one-off so it'll be dependent on millions of things if we were to go again. I don't think anyone expected that to be such a big success."

Mercurio, however, recently confirmed with The Telegraph that he and Madden continue talking about Bodyguard season 2's return. For now, he said that they are looking at the logistics of bringing the show back since all those involved are busy with other projects.

They need to find a way to make their schedules work to start filming Bodyguard season 2. For now, what's certain is Madden is keen on reprising his role even as he is starring in a big movie with Marvel and Angelina Jolie.

For his part, Madden said that he's keen on revisiting his character but not until 2021. David, after all, needs a break and a change of lifestyle given how Bodyguard season 1 ended.

Madden and Mercurio, also, haven't narrowed down a story for Bodyguard season 2, but the actor said he would like to explore David's PTSD again after his national breakdown on television.

Meanwhile, Bodyguard season 1 is still streaming on Netflix. The show first aired on BBC in September 2018 to break rating records. It picked up with the audience around the world when the streaming platform ran the show in December.
