Rapper Owen Ovadoz has taken an offensive stance towards BTS, causing a controversy.
On September 18th, Ovadoz posted a lengthy article via his Instagram story.
In the article, it writes, "singer Suran, B-Free, Beenzino, Park Jae-bum, Hash Swan, and Lee Rohan have been bullied." "Looking at what their fans do to others, I hope they stop doing hip hop," added the writer.
"The two rappers started hip hop but changed their direction to pursue becoming idols. It is because they were poor before they became idols. They choose an easier path because of money, which they also agreed." "They should stop being idols and take another path. Now, they are in the middle trying to enjoy being idol and doing hip pop. It is like a rich person wanting to steal what the poor has."
The article also wrote, "If the music was good, I would have been quiet, but the rap wasn't really good. To be honest, I was so surprised to see how shameless they were when they copied Vincent, Kim Ha-on and E-Sens."
In this article, Ovadoz did not reveal a specific name of the group. However, when BTS Jung Kuk was swept by a rumor of dating, his fans threw cyber bullies at Hash Swan. This shows that it is BTS that the article is speaking about.
The netizens speculated that the idol group in the post was BTS, and rumors has spread quickly that Ovadoz had criticized BTS publicly. In addition, some media reported that Ovadoz himself wrote a post, escalating a controversy.
In response, Ovadoz explained that the article was a quote from an online hip-hop community.
On the other hand, a staff member in charge of advertising Ovadoz told TV Daily, "I'm not the person in charge. I don't know exactly what's going on. I'll call the person in charge," and tried to avoid questions.
Owen Ovadoz was active in Mnet's 'Show Me the Money 8'.
