Finally arriving soon, Supergirl Season 5 will bring a lot of new changes. But, aside from Supergirl's new costume and Kara's new relationship status with Lena, the new season also introduces new characters that are deemed to be additional villains.
X-Files star Mitch Pileggi and Stranger Things actress, Cara Buono, will play recurring roles as Rama Khan and Gamemnae respectively. According to Deadline, these characters are part of the Ancient Alien's race loosely based on DC's "version" of Atlantis. There are also reports claiming their links with the well-known Justice League in America.
The details are all great teasers for the characters' arrival. However, no word has been shared if these will be all featured in Supergirl Season 5.
Gamemnae is revealed though as an ancient alien who safeguards the Earth since then. In the series, her aim will involve the use of technology to "subjugate" humans. But while running in logic, this agenda of hers will attract Supergirl's attention that will result in conflict.
Rama Khan, on the other hand, is an arrogant ancient alien who has been "entrusted" to protect the Earth. With his ability to control the four elements - earth, fire, water, and air, this was his purpose. However, his yet-revealed agenda is not in line with Supergirl's visions. And this puts him, Supergirl, and Lena Luthor at "odds."
While things will sure be chaotic for Kara in Supergirl Season 5, Screen Rant emphasizes that Supergirl will survive. Thanks to the hints of her "important" role to play in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, the first half of the series will pretty much fall and go along Kara's way.
The case is different though after the crossover event. Recent theories and claims suggest that Supergirl will die which will change the course of the series. But not until the Arrowverse crossover happens, Kara will need to face her biggest challenges yet.
According to CBR, Lena Luthor will be one of Kara's greatest challenges. After Lena learned about Kara's alter ego in Season 4, it changes everything, especially their close relationship with each other. And added by the showrunner, it will be the "emotional center" of Supergirl Season 5.
The first episode titled, Event Horizon, will somehow show the beginning point of Lena and Kara's broken friendship. But it will focus more on CatCo as Kara learns that the new owners have already taken over of the company.
Supergirl Season 5 premieres on October 6, on The CW.
