Killjoys Season 5 just ended and fans, now, wonder if there will be Killjoys Season 6. Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen), Johnny (Aaron Ashmore), and the rest of the gang may never see the light of the day after Syfy announced the show is already on its final season. However, some are still hoping it will be picked up by a new network or the streaming giant, Netflix.
In September last year, Syfy announced Killjoys Season 5 would be the series' last and final installment. Hence, there would be no renewals that fans still expect.
According to CarterMatt, the Killjoys Season 5 finale, which featured a showdown between Dutch and The Lady (Alanna Bale), would be the last time fans would see their favorite bounty hunters on the small screens. However, the cancellation didn't come as a shock.
There have been swirling rumors Killjoys Season 6 would be canceled. When the show was renewed for the fourth and fifth seasons, there were indications it would be the end of the series. But, the writers didn't just let it end in an ordinary way, as they carefully thought of a concept that would tie all the loose ends that would properly close the show.
However, this still doesn't stop fans for clamoring for a new season. But, with its poor ratings, it is impossible that it will get renewed.
Killjoys Season 5 only has an average of under 0.1 ratings in the 18-49 demographic and only over 300,000 total live viewers. These numbers are posed an overall decrease of over 25 percent from Season 4 averages.
Season 4, on the other hand, also experienced a dip of more than 30 percent in both measurements from Season 3. With these numbers, the possibility of having Killjoys Season 6 picked up by other networks or a streaming website is reportedly very slim.
Killjoys is a Canadian television series that had a concept of science fiction space adventure. It aired on the Space channel and started to hit the small screens in June 2015. The show was created by Michelle Lovretta and co-produced by Syfy.
It featured the story of three bounty hunters that worked in the Quad, a planetary system that was on the verge of an interplanetary war. The show set up a complex universe, complete with all the major sci-fi tropes, but it didn't bring anything new to the table.
However, The Cinemaholic noted its cast managed to bring fun to the series that made viewers loved the genre. Unfortunately, there may be no Killjoys Season 6 that will be in the works. But, we'll never know what the future may bring.
