SBS' new action-drama Vagabond, which features Lee Seung Gi and Suzy Bae, has received a lot of positive feedback after its premiere episode. Many fans praised the exemplary performances of its lead stars and its high production value.
According to a report by All Kpop, netizens were impressed by Vagabond's pilot episode, which evoked genuine emotions from stars Lee Seung Gi and Suzy Bae. A lot of comments said that they did not notice the time fly by and, before they knew it, the episode was already over. This looked like positive signs for the drama, which even shot in Morocco for two months to achieve a world-class action feeling for the drama.
Vagabond revolves around the character of Lee Seung Gi, a stuntman who was involved in a tragic plane crash and found himself in the middle of a national scandal. Suzy Bae plays a black-ops spy, who is sent to investigate the case.
In an earlier interview, cast member Ki Tae Woong said that he would not be surprised if Vagabond breaks viewership records with a 30 percent rating because he has never experienced a drama of this level.
"I think this project will do really well. I experienced a lot of things I've never done before, and while I was on set, I thought to myself that this drama would be on a whole new level. Our goal for viewership ratings is 30 percent. If we get 30 percent, the actors will discuss and come up with a special event," he said confidently.
Apart from the high impact action scenes, SBS invested 25 billion won (USD 21.1 million) for the production so Vagabond will achieve all of its goals to deliver a spy drama that can impress a global audience.
Lee Seung Gi said that, apart from receiving strong financial support for the production, the team also allowed him to focus on his acting so that he can do justice to his role. While he has done action roles in his previous projects, the actor said that this character is different because he is a regular stuntman who is not trained in investigating government conspiracies. His emotional motivation is also something that fuels his drive to find justice.
Suzy Bae, for her part, said that she finds her role challenging and interesting. The ex-girlfriend of Lee Min Ho is excited to let the viewers witness her evolution. Vagabond is Lee Seung Gi and Suzy Bae's second project together after the widely successful period drama titled Gu Family Book.
