Hope will no longer exist in Mystic Falls. Season 1 makes sure of it, and fans are convinced that it will take time for her to return.
In the first season finale, Hope chose to sacrifice herself by diving into the Malivore pit. Although she knows that it will erase everyone's memories of her, this is the only way to save their lives. Without any hesitation, she jumped right in and trapped herself in the pit.
Legacies Season 2 will strictly pick up after the final moments of the first season. So, Hope will be erased in the eyes and minds of everyone, probably for now.
This dynamic makes it very fitting why the first episode carries the title, I'll Never Give Up Hope. While no one knows yet who is directly claiming the phrase, it is already a giveaway hint that she will return and undo the chaos.
The premiere episode also carries the subtitle, A Summer Without Hope, since everybody is now leaving for summer vacations. And according to Cartermatt, the official synopsis also revealed that, while people are having great times in their respective breaks, they will all find it inadequate since there is something, or more appropriately, someone, is missing.
It is not uncovered how Hope will return to the Mystic Falls. But, even so, the first episode will still show her current status and condition as she tries to decipher what to do.
With these scenarios, fans are now seeing a much darker season for Legacies, which is true as revealed by EP Brett Matthews in an interview with TV Line.
Based on his statements, the new season will be "ten percent" darker than its previous installment. And with Hope gone, literally and figuratively, everyone's lives will be changed.
Along with it, a new big bad is also hinted to arrive in the very first episode of Legacies Season 2. No further information has been shared about the upcoming villain. But, by the looks of it, this might turn out to be Hope after all with her bad side fully unleashed as teased by the show.
Logically, this is a very possible event to happen. And fans are convinced that this might be the only way for Hope to get out of the Malivore pit. Even so, these thoughts remain as speculations and theories created by the fandom. So, unless the new season drops, no one knows for sure.
Legacies Season 2 will start to drop new episodes on October 10, on The CW.
