WARNING: This article contains spoilers and predictions for The Affair Season 5. Read at your own risk.

The final season of The Affair is now four episodes deep in its course. As seen in the latest installment, things are becoming more intense and compelling. But, with seven episodes left now its pockets, it only fits to turn things around.

Episode 4, which is titled "504," is one of the best examples of how the show is twisting the characters. Fans have witnessed Noah's absurd plans of sabotaging Sasha and Helen's relationship. However, he got caught and made Helen felt even more ridiculed.

In another event, Colin and Whitney are facing a lot of "issues." But, what made the whole arc more jaw-dropping is when Whitney had disturbing sex with her ex-boyfriend, Furkat, at the afterparty of a gallery event she was forced to attend by her boss.

The "intoxicated" Whitney seemed to avoid the advances. Aside from Furkat's persuasions, his friend, who happens to be the gallery collector, watches and masturbates to them as they do the act. Whitney tries to put everything at a stop, but Furkat promised that she would have her own art gallery.

According to The New York Times, this scene surprised the viewers. Not only that it's too provocative, but it's also disturbing

It is worth noting, as well, that this is the first time it ever happened in the course of The Affair. The episode then moved to another timeline. And it has been revealed that Cole died in 2053 as Joanie visits his grave.

The upcoming episode will not seemingly pick up in this timeline. As revealed in the trailer, Noah's efforts to "win back" Helen will continue. While she appears to get sickened of his ex-husband's actions, critics and fans are convinced that the former couple will reunite in the near-end of the season. And that their relationship will be the ultimate endgame of the series.

But, as far as the next episode is concerned, it won't happen yet as the focus will dive deeper into Sierra's struggles and Helen's lectures.

Sierra, who is all teary-eyed, juggling the responsibilities of a mother, asks Helen a favor to take care of her baby for a while. Helen does not like the idea and slams her with a wake-up call that this is her responsibility now and forever.

As to how this scenario will affect The Affair's future course is yet to be revealed. But, since the future is the topic, TV Line has learned that Cole's wife-on-paper, Luisa, will return. It's a bit unclear, though, if she remained Joanie's guardian in the present timeline.

The Affair Season 5 Episode 5 will air on September 22, on Showtime.
