ABC's Dancing With The Stars Season 28 just arrived a few days ago. After a year-long break from the previous season, the comeback has caused the show to become even more compelling for its viewers.
Many reports have claimed that the new season will be "buzz-worthy" given the diversity of the celebrity contestants and, even right before the premiere, the drama has already started.
One of the 12 celebrities is the former White House Press Secretary, Sean Spencer. The drama started when his participation was made known to the public as it caused a backlash, per TV Line. Even so, Sean Spencer remains hopeful that he'll do great on stage despite the negativities.
Another drama spiraled out when Christie Brinkley "dropped out" from Dancing With The Stars Season 28 just a few days before the premiere. Sadly, she had an injury while training for her first performance. So, her daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, had to replace her for the season.
Surprisingly though, Sailor's Foxtrot performance with pro Val Chmerkovskiy was an impressive one. In fact, she and Val are among the highest scorers of the first round. Given the lack of time for practice and training, she proved that she could dance well and possibly win the season.
However, Parade emphasized that judge-given scores are not the only metric that they should consider. As it happens, eliminations will be based on two factors: the judges' scores and the viewers' live votes.
For the first episode, the half scores are already given to the contestants. While Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Val were included in the top scorers, the Tango pair James Van Der Beek and pro Emma Slater got the highest score, followed by the Cha-cha pair Hannah Brown and pro Alan Bersten.
The lowest score was given to Lamar Odom and pro Peta Murgatroyd. It seemingly appeared that the pair's version of Foxtrot did not please the judges at all.
Nevertheless, this is just the first half of the total scores. And by the next episode of Dancing With The Stars Season 28, the live votes will start to arrive. So, it is still unknown who will be the first pair to exit the competition.
The previous season's winner, Bobby Bones, shared in an interview with Parade his whole experience on the show. But, aside from his stories, he also shared his personal "favorite" celebrity contestants in the new season. Based on his statements, it looks like he is rooting for Lauren Alaina and Ray Lewis. But, he is also curious about Hannah Brown and Ally Brooke.
Dancing With The Stars Season 28 will have its first elimination on September 23, on ABC.
