It can't be denied that Kate Middleton and Prince William are two of the most loved Royal Family members. However, the couple recently caused an uproar among fans after Kensington Palace announced that they would no longer respond to every letter sent to the family during royal event celebrations due to "limited sources available."
Kate and Prince William have been known for being hands-on and forming a good relationship with their fans. However, they have unintentionally caused sadness to some royal watchers after they decide to lessen the thank you note they send to all of their letter senders because of having limited resources. According to Express, with the high volume of letters they receive, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are having a hard time to answer them all.
An Instagram user with the name british_royal replies a shared a photo of the note it got from the British Royal Family after it wished Kate and Prince William good luck on their King's Cup regatta. The sports event happened in July. Although the letter was sent in the same month, the fan received a reply in October.
A royal aide wrote the response, saying Kate and Prince William asked him to thank the fan for the letter. The aide also explained why the Cambridges were not able to give a thank you card when the follower sent best wishes for their wedding anniversary in April.
The aide confirmed Kate and Prince William appreciated all the messages they received in celebration of special events. "However, with limited resources available to handle the growing volume of cards that they receive, Their Royal Highnesses will now focus on responding to a select number of these occasions such as Christmas, birthdays and significant anniversaries," the aide said. To make up with the fan, the aide enclosed a royal photograph from the Cambridges as a token of appreciation.
As expected, the internet was divided on the decision for the highnesses only to respond to select royal events. Although it caused an uproar among fans, some understand the intention behind the resolution, per Marie Claire.
One fan said Kate and Prince William must receive a ton of letters every now and then. If the letters decrease, there is a bit chance a few trees will be saved because fewer papers will be used. Other additional costs will be cut too. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may also follow the new policy and will only send thank you notes to royal fans on certain important events.
