Black Lightning season 3 episode 3 is scheduled to arrive next week and this episode is, perhaps, one of the most dangerous for the characters so far. Titled "The Book of Occupation: Chapter Three," next week's episode will feature a virus that will threaten the city of Freeland.

In Black Lightning season 3 episode 3, things keep getting worse for Freeland, and Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) and family. Jefferson and Lynn (Christine Adams) are separated from their children. Anissa (Nafessa Williams) faces her own issues outside Freeland, while Jennifer (China Anne McClain) is left alone in the city.

Next week, everything turns into a whole new critical level as a threat comes to the city and could cause deaths of many people and metahumans. In the promo of Black Lightning season 3 episode 3, it looks like a virus breaks out and it puts the lives of many in danger.

This event could lead to the return of Black Lightning after his long absence. But, this could also lead to some major problems between Jefferson and Lynn. Based on the synopsis of the upcoming episode, Jefferson brokered a deal with Agent Odell (Bill Duke) without consulting Lynn first, and this leads to a rift between the two of them.

However, we're talking about a virus, and it could put everyone in danger -- including their daughters. Thus, Jefferson decided to keep everyone in Freeland safe and he's willing to cooperate so he can make sure the job is properly done.

In another part of Black Lightning season 3 episode 3, Grace (Chantal Thuy) and Anissa are said to have an emotional encounter. Jennifer, on the other hand, is trying to hone her powers and attempting to make the city all safer despite whatever hurdles are thrown against her along the way.

What makes Black Lightning season 3 more interesting is that it features a superhero origin story -- like with Jennifer -- and it goes parallel to everything that we know with Black Lightning. The titular character has been doing this for a long time now, but that doesn't mean he knows what's best for him all the time.

The series also touches the element of governmental oversight and considers the themes of oppression, and citizens who are living in the dark. Black Lightning is a superhero series, but it feels like the show also points out other relevant themes and takes things to a whole new level.

Black Lightning season 3 episode 3 will air on Monday, October 21, on The CW.
