Amid 'Produce X 101' being under suspicion of vote manipulation, a penalty may be imposed once the case is finalized.
On October 17, The Korea Communications Standards Commission (hereafter KCSC) responded to questions related to Mnet's 'Produce X 101' they would impose penalty or sanction if the charge is proved and finalized.
The Commission stated, "We may be able to impose a heavy sanction or a penalty based on Clause 1 of Article 1 of the Broadcasting Act." "A heavy sanction" means the punishment or disciplinary action given to the broadcast program staff or related person responsible for the program. They can be fined a sum ranging from 10 million won (approximately $8,400) to 30 million won (approximately $25,300) based on the Enforcement Decree of the Broadcasting Act.
The chairman of the commission, Noh Woong Rae, said, "The vote manipulation of Produce 101 was a formidable fraud cheating young musicians full of dreams and hopes. It will be handled with an administrative action taken swiftly."
On October 16th, the police initiated investigating the bank accounts of all PDs of 'Produce X' and announced that they would check the additional accounts as well as other sides' bank accounts together.
The police are now speeding up the investigation related to the money transactions, and it is reported that the investigation on the agencies and related parties is at the final stage.
Earlier, 'Produce X' was caught in suspicion of voting manipulation. Netizens pointed out that the number appeared in a consistent manner and the ranking was switched. The investigation began with the doubt on X1's final ranking rigged in vote.
In addition, MBC 'PD Notebook' exposed the trainees' reality, supporting the suspected charges.
