The next fight Manny Pacquiao will take is still a question that only the Filipino boxing legend can answer. But make no mistake, Pacquiao will climb the ring soon, and it's only a matter of who the WBA Super Welterweight champion will face. On this, Timothy Bradley has a few suggestions.
However, the former foe of Pacquiao is not recommending names that the boxing icon must fight next. Instead, Bradley has made a list of welterweights that the Pacman must keep a distance from.
Per the report from 3KingsBoxing.com, Bradley said Pacquiao needs to keep away from Errol Spence, Shawn Porter, and Terrence Crawford, although he admitted that "any of those top welterweights is a good match up for Pacquiao."
"Porter is a great match up for him. Spence is a great match up for him. Personally, If I had Manny Pacquiao, I would keep him away from those guys. I would keep him away from a guy like Errol Spence. I would keep him away from a guy like Shawn Porter as well. I'd keep him away from Terence Crawford, all those top guys," added Bradley, who enjoys the honor as one of the few that defeated the 8-division world champion.
It appeared that Bradley's concern for Pacquiao stemmed from the latter's last outing with Keith Thurman. The Filipino won the showdown with the American, but Bradley thought Pacquiao facing opponents with huge age gaps is not healthy anymore.
If anything, the next fight for Pacquiao should be a careful decision by the boxer's camp. In every fight, the risk is always there, but the Filipino fighter has to take a calculated risk at this point, Bradley insisted while adding that his former opponent can surely be on a top of the ring and still outbox.
This sentiment aired by Bradley seemed to echo the recent observation made by boxing promoter Bob Arum, who literally begged Pacquiao for the sake of his health. Arum also cited Pacquiao's recent fight with Thurman, and according to him, the Filipino came home victorious, but the punishment he incurred might just hound him later.
Should Pacquiao still insist on fighting, then it has to be the big one. He must pursue a rematch against Floyd Mayweather, and it should be his last. If that fight is unlikely to happen, Arum advised Pacquiao to quit boxing as he is set for life.
Meanwhile, in the event that the Pacquiao-Mayweather will happen, it is unlikely that the staging will be held in Japan. That's because the Japanese Boxing Commission has blocked the MayPac 2 in the country if the MMA promotion RIZIN will handle the event, The Sun reported.
It will be recalled that the same outfit has been talking with Mayweather for an exhibition match pitting the American against Pacquiao, but the latter rejected the proposal and insisted the fight has to be for real.
